Marley Blonsky - All Bodies on Bikes

Shop Marley’s new Merch

Did you know that fat people aren’t waterproof?

Judging by the availability of rain gear for plus sized bodies, you’d think we have a magical water-repelling capability. But you know as well as I do that is simply not the case.

Below I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite wet weather options, specifically designed for riding a bike or being active!

Rain Jackets: Pearl iZUMi now makes a rain jacket that fits! And goes up to a XXX Large! Here’s me unboxing and trying on the rain jacket for the first time. (I usually don’t do these, so this is a genuine happy dance!)

The Europeans have been riding bikes in all sorts of weather for a long time, so of course the rain cape comes to us from their part of the world. The rain cape is essentially a poncho, with some extra details that make it especially functional for cycling.

My current favorite is Cleverhood who makes absolutely adorable and functional rain coats and capes!

The Shape - The cut of the cape allows you to cycle normally, reaching for your handlebars and ensuring the cape covers your hands and legs, keeping you extra dry!

Pockets - Most rain capes have a chest pocket, which is perfect for gloves or your phone.

Waist Tie - Perfect for windy days, this ensures you don’t turn into a human sail boat.

Reflectivity - Many rain capes have reflective bits built into them, a nice safety feature.
